A true Treasure Island

Ventotene
A true gem!
We arrived here after 7 hours sail from Ponza Island. Great winds got us here doing 4/5 kmots. Beautiful day. We laughed when we approached the island as it look like just a small rock, how can any one live here? Nick our friend we met in Tecnomar who is anchored now out side Ponza says he comes from here and to say that we know Nick when we arrive, but we didn't know his last name, how will they know which Nick. Was it possible we thought!
Close to the harbour, the harbour master came out and to ask us to come in for 30 euro a night,  I said we can anchor then he said 20 euros we thought it would be good to be able to walk off boat easily so we said yes. Dave asked him if he knew Nick . 'Of course'  Now we pay 10 euros a night.

As we entered we followed him in to what?! I thought, where are we going it just looks like a rock. The smallest little tiny harbour amazing once a Rome port. you could see most the port was still Roman.

full story of our journey when we get back to Tecnomar Rome next week.

A Day OUT - Ostia Antica

WOW what a great day out and perfect place for a picnic.

God of the sea. We need him!!

There my little God!

Lorenzo loved the sound in here!

Preparing the bear for the summer

We are now back at the boat, getting her ready. We have had to order a new dingy so we have to wait for that to arrive. Plus we have been asked to stay for the Regata  which is on 26th May. So we are hoping to leave to head up the Italian coast soon after.
The winds were too strong for the Regata so they have canceled but its too windy for us to set sail too.
Money has been short this mouth with doing work to house and the boat and everyone wanting cash it hasn't been easy.
We have found a new dingy second hand Zodiac but never really been used the lady's husband died and she has no use for it now.
We have had some work done on genova sail and lazy jack bag as they took a beating in the storm Dave sailed through in January.
We have been working hard on sanding and vanishing boom on all the wood work. Such a gratifying  job to see the improvement of vanished wood. Photos coming soon!!! SEE our work page
